DITT Job Opportunity: Ongoing position for a Principal Molecular Scientist SPO1 and Principal Plant Biosecurity Officer SPO2

An ongoing position for a Principal Molecular Scientist SPO1 has been advertised with applications closing Wednesday, 19 January 2022, and a Principal Plant Biosecurity Officer SPO2 with applications closing Monday, 7 February 2022. Both positions are within DITT's Biosecurity and Animal Welfare unit.

Principal Molecular Scientist

Lead the development and implementation of plant biosecurity research projects related to sustainable plant-industry production in the Northern Territory. Provide a high quality molecular diagnostics service to industry and government in response to biosecurity threats and routine diagnostics for endemic plant pests.

Principal Plant Biosecurity Officer

Provide high level strategic direction and leadership to the plant based biosecurity and product integrity programs that align and deliver on the Northern Territory’s biosecurity strategies and policies, as well as national obligations under the Intergovernmental Agreement on Biosecurity. The Principal Plant Biosecurity Officer will develop and implement biosecurity policies and initiatives to support trade and market access, participate on national committees and working groups, implement legislative reforms to protect plant industries in the Northern Territory, support preparedness in the event of a new plant pest, and deliver new and improved ways of delivering efficient and effective plant biosecurity services for NT industries and the community.
