The Beyond Myrtle Rust (BMR) program, led by Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research and funded by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) Endeavour Fund, is a collaborative research initiative dedicated to understand the ecology, behaviour, and impacts of Myrtle rust (Austropuccinia psidii) in New Zealand. Visit the BMR website.
As part of this program, BMR is hosting a series of webinars. The upcoming webinar will feature Shae Swanepoel, PhD candidate at the University of Pretoria in South Africa, who will present findings on the molecular interactions between Eucalyptus grandis and the myrtle rust pathogen.
Webinar details:
Eucalyptus grandis, a globally significant forestry species, is susceptible to myrtle rust. This webinar will delve into a joint research project between Australia and South Africa, examining resistant and susceptible E. grandis plants and their interactions with the pathogen. Shae will discuss the use of dual RNA-seq in uncovering these complex molecular dialogues, which may help develop effective disease management strategies.
Register for the webinar. Registered attendees will receive a recording and invites to future webinars in the myrtle rust series.
