Annual Surveillance Workshop 2018

ASW2018 looked at emerging technologies, ways to improve collaboration and future goals of the PSNAP and opportunities for further professional development for surveillance practitioners.

The workshop was held 19-21 March in Adelaide with 44 people attending from Australia and New Zealand.

Attendees focussed on the development of the Reference Standard for National Surveillance Protocols for plant pests, with 12 draft protocols worked on over the two day workshop.

Keeping an eye on pests and how to report a suspect pest

Any unusual plant pest, disease or weed should be reported.

Reporting hotlines operate in both Australia and New Zealand (numbers shown below).

Pests can also be reported using apps, such as MyPestGuide® for Australia, that allow you to submit a photo of the pest or symptoms.

Every report is taken seriously and handled confidentially. Management of calls varies in different areas, but to the same end.
