The Australian biosecurity landscape has taken a significant step forward with the official launch of the ARC Training Centre in Plant Biosecurity. This $10 million, five-year initiative, funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC), aims to train the next generation of biosecurity researchers and professionals, ensuring Australia remains a global leader in plant health.
Launched on International Day of Plant Health (IDPH), the Centre reflects a shared commitment to safeguarding agriculture, native ecosystems, and our way of life.
Led by three universities and 27 partner organisations, the Centre will deliver advanced training, foster cross-sector collaboration, and drive research into early detection and rapid response for plant pests and diseases.
The Centre’s work will strengthen Australia’s resilience against emerging threats by connecting research to real-world biosecurity systems and applications.
