The United States Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service (USDA ARS) has developed recovery plans as part of the National Plant Disease Recovery System.
The National Plant Disease Recovery System aims to ensure that the tools, infrastructure, communication networks, and capacity required to mitigate high consequence plant disease outbreaks are in place to maintain a reasonable level of crop production in the US.
Recovery plans developed as part of this program are intended to provide a brief primer on a threatening disease, assess the status of critical recovery components, and identify disease management strategies including research, extension, and education priorities.
Surveillance practitioners may find these resources useful, particularly the sections on pest and disease spread and risk mapping. While designed for the USA, the insights and strategies may also have relevance for Australian applications.
