The Annual Surveillance Workshop 2020 was held in virtually on 13–14 March for people working in pest surveillance to engage with each other as part of the newly established Plant Surveillance Network Australasia-Pacific.

Over 125 members attended the workshop from 26 organisations attended the Annual Surveillance Workshop 2020 (ASW2020).  There was a wide range of presentations given on topics including industry led surveillance, general surveillance, plant pest interception information and pathways for pest movement.  In support of the International Year of Plant Health (IYPH) 2020 the ASW2020 theme was ‘International, Regional, National and Local – where do you fit in the surveillance continuum to protect plants and our way of life?

The workshop objectives were to:

  1. Build understanding of international, regional, national and local surveillance activities and initiatives in the wider plant pest surveillance system.
  2. Connect interested people, share information and grow the Plant Surveillance Network.
  3. Facilitate opportunities for capability building and succession planning.
