Click here to view the resource

This document describes how the Plant Health Service for England will respond if infection by potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTVd) is discovered on tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) and/or pepper (Capsicum annum) crops.

The document will be used in conjunction with the Defra Contingency Plan for Plant Health in England, which gives details of the teams and organisations involved in pest response in England, and their responsibilities and governance. It also describes how these teams and
organisations work together in the event of an outbreak of a plant health pest.
The aim of this response plan is to facilitate the containment and eradication of PSTVd. It can also be used as a basis for responding to outbreaks in tomato and/or pepper of related pospiviroids. A datasheet containing background information on PSTVd is included in the appendix.
